Growing UP

My three children are growing up.
I don't know how to stop it.

It seems like yesterday that I was dropping Ellie off for her first day of Kindergarten at Brookside Elementary school in Springville. Now she has graduated from the 2nd grade at Mapleton Elementary School, is baptized, has braces, plays the piano, and occasionally talks about which boy she thinks is cute.
How did that happen?

It feels like Jane is still the spunky tiny 2 year old with a few wisps of hair and a mischievious smile, and yet I watched a week ago as she sang her heart out with the other Kindergartners at her graduation. She was the tallest girl in her class, reads like a grown-up, and is more daring at 6 than I am at 31.

Could it have really been 2 1/2 years ago that I met my sweet baby Henry for the first time? He seemed so little and was completely dependent on me for everything. Even though he is now a big, active, smart 2 year old, he is still my baby. But now he walks around telling people he is going to be a BIG brother. And he's right.

Sometimes I am not ready to let my kids grow up. I want to freeze time so I can really soak in each stage they are in. Time goes too fast.

We will be adding a new little one to our family in just a couple of weeks, and that is going to make my three other kids seem even more big and grown up. Of course I am thrilled at the thought of having a precious baby girl join our family, but I know in a way it will change things. Henry won't be my baby anymore. The girls will be given more responsibility as they help with the baby and Henry. When I hold the tiny, innocent, helpless baby, I will be even more aware of how much my other three have changed.

I know, change is a good thing and growing up is a good thing. But, I just want to push pause for a minute and bask in the greatness of having my 8, 6, and 2 year old.

My three children are growing up.
And I don't know how to stop it.

BOYS

Proof that Henry is a B O Y

In case you were wondering...

In case any of you were wondering what I am looking like 8 1/2 months pregnant,
here is Jane's rendering of our family. Notice my belly...

For all of you who forgot what I look like at the end of my pregnancy
and swore I would never get big, take a look at the real thing...

Yup, I take my ball with me wherever I go.
That is for 2 more weeks...

and counting.

Henry's 1st Tie

For over a month now, Henry has been telling us,
"I want a tie for Kissmas."

We made all his dreams come true on Easter instead.

growing UP

You know your baby isn't a baby anymore
when her smile looks like this...

She's got her mama's mouth. Thank heavens for orthodontists.

Nature in the kitchen

Need something to keep your kids occupied for a while...

Just get one of these...

We forgot we had one of those sticky mouse catching pads way under our ovens until this little guy found it for us and dragged it out so we could see it. Thoughtful little guy, isn't he.

Jane wants to keep him.

Henry wants a BIG mouse.

Sorry to disappoint.

Thanks to this little guy's reminder, he and any friends that he may have, will not be enjoying our company again soon.

Best Investment EVER!

I am married to an accountant.
A wonderfully patient, understanding accountant. But an accountant nonetheless.
What does that mean?
It means that every penny spent is well accounted for, documented, and lamented over.

So, when we decided to purchase a trampoline for Christmas,
it was a little hard for my accountant lover to swallow.
Deciding we wanted a 'well-made, last forever trampoline' then finding how much 'well-made, last forever trampolines' actually cost, was an even bigger chunk to swallow.
For him.
And me.
Ouch!

Three months have passed since the kids opened the blinds Christmas morning to discover their trampoline dreams had come true.

I can honestly say that if disaster struck tomorrow and a huge wind storm carried our trampoline away (which actually did happen to my brother's neighbor- one day they had a trampoline and the next day my brother did)...

We got our pretty penny's worth.

Best investment EVER!
